Instagram SELKIE KNOTS AND FACEBOOK ARTIST BIO Kaz Clarke environmental artist, weaves sculptures from ghostnet and marine plastics. Her art addresses the dramatic impact of marine plastics on our oceans which disrupts the delicate balance of land and sea. Exploring the different perspectives , mans unbalance with synthetic plastics, earths destruction through textures, colour and impurities. By deconstructing and manipulating techniques the ghostnet fibers and beach rope are meticulously weaved into whimsical thought provoking 3 D sculptures and artworks. Many hours are spent meticulously collecting, cleaning and sorting the marine plastics and beach rope. Kaz travels extensively with her mobile studio salvaging marine debris on beach cleanups from the Great Ocean road, South Australian beaches to the Tasmanian coastlines. Also running marine plastic workshops interstate and through local coast care projects to spread her craft. Her art is a reflection of her passion for the marine environment and mans plastic waste obsession. Exploring the strong ancient connection to Mother Earth and sea on Gunditjimara lands. |
