  2022 COLAC OTWAY ARTS TRAIL

Guy Boyd
"Swimmer entering the Water" 1984

Picture
Swimmer Entering Water, 1984 Guy Boyd
Now seen at  Blue Water Leisure Centre Colac

While the Blue Water Lesiure Centre was undergoing renovation the Sculpture spent time at RRRTAG  thanks the RRRTAG committee who found out a little of its history through Guy's  daughter Lenore-

"Swimmer Entering Water" is a bronze cast of a numbered edition  There are several casts of the piece in existence.
Guy Boyd lived by the sea in Brighton, Melbourne for many years and spent much time walking on the shore.
He was always entranced by the bathers and scenes on the beach and this theme features in much of his work.
"Swimmer entering Water" was originally donated to the sculpture Park in Colac
The Park was a wonderful idea, as sculpture particularly lends itself to display in nature.
Unfortunately the sculpture was seriously vandalized while in the Park and had to be repaired. At that stage it was decided to find a more secure location.
