I am very passionate and concerned about the future of our “Australian wildlife”.
In these Gardens many species can be found that call this place their home. I among many locals visit along with tourists, all come just to see this beautiful place, a photographers delight, a large variety of birds,, parrots, lorikeets, I see many of the waterbirds from the adjacent “bird sanctuary” fly in at dusk to roost and rest for the night,, and the raptors “the Kites” have a nest, their home base too , plus all the insects, possums, micro - mega bats plus the reptiles, lizards, skinks and the odd snake. All depending on the kindness of man for their ongoing existence. I have used as many natural materials as I could, some found, some recycled along with natural fibres such as alpaca spun yarn, jute strings, pre-used fabric, and other yarn. This art piece is my interpretation and based on ; from research of “the-green-man- spirit-of-the-forest” and the ancient mythology about some of the spirits/deities that were associated with nature, wildlife, and plant growth. “According to Ryan Stone of Ancient Origins, this association stems from the pre-Christian notion that Man was born from nature, as evidenced by various mythological accounts of the way in which the world began, and the idea that Man is directly tied to the fate of nature” |
