Ink on synthetic paper
Merrian Dennis explores the simplicity of the volcanic landscape of South West Victoria,
bold and expressive as she delicately manoeuvres her brushes and black
ink over the smooth surface of the synthetic paper. “The marks created in these Still Life
artworks, echo the lines and textures observed within the volcanic landscape on which we
stand. Whether it be the multiple layers of wear and tear and exposure of heavily textured
basalt rocks over time or the delicate lines created by the salty foam on the volcanic lakes. This is the
inspiration that directs and informs my artwork.
