Robert Mills invites you into his home and studio to experience his new art works and latest functional pottery, including a pottery demonstration.
This year I am making dinner sets with plates, bowls, cups, mugs etc And for my love of texture creating wall plaques with a visual pattern impressed on them. I will demonstrate how pottery is made on the wheel during the weekend.
I moved to Australia in 1981 aged 30yrs old. And lived in Melbourne.
In 1982 started a 4yr Ceramic Design Course at Chilshom Institute of Technology in Caulfield.
In 1991 moved to Birregurra and sold pottery to a dozen outlets and went to 3 markets a month taking our 3 children with us.
Started a Cooperative called “79 Main St” in Birregurra with other makers around town, for 3 years
Continued making and selling pottery till 1998
Did a Dip. Ed. in Ballarat and became a teacher and taught in Colac till 2016.
Spent the next 7years as an owner builder converting my studio into a new home with an attached pottery space.
Have created some art work and made some pottery and fired up the kiln.
Life is good.
