BEEAC - BOTH WEEK-ENDS.
WINDOWSPACE – BEEAC
WINDOWSPACE-BEEAC is an artist run initiative and not for profit contemporary art space and every month shows work of local artists and artists from all over Australia . During October the Melbourne based mixed media artist Annabel Nowlan will show ‘Dogma’, a mixed media piece exploring the impact of religious doctrine and the dubious foundations of patriarchal and puritanical ideologies.
The subject matter of this installation is drawn from early personal experiences: a catholic upbringing in a small rural NSW community, and ghastly experiences at catholic boarding schools. These works also reflects Annabel’s curiosity of anti-social behaviour, humour and an irreverent attraction to the wicked. The piece in the windowspace has a nice link to the theme of Corangamarah Art Prize con.ceit (concept which is conceived, imagined or formed in the mind, an idea, thought, image, a personal opinion) which can also be enjoyed during the trail. Thought provoking.
Artist Talk and conversation on Saturday 27 October at 4.30-6.00pm where Annabel will speak about her art practice and inspiration behind the work.
Come and enjoy refreshments and good conversation – a nice end to the day.
