HEATHER BARKER
‘Beauty and the Beast’ (Area 11) This is a cute cactus in a pot, but prickly pear is an introduced species that, by 1920, had infested 23,000,000 hectares in NSW and Queensland, making land useless for production. Materials/Medium: Recycled materials, found natural materials, textile I work with textiles and yarn to tell stories, using a wide range of techniques including hand stitching, knitting, and natural dyeing to evoke the setting and spirit of the stories I tell. I exhibit locally and have completed a Diploma in Visual Arts at SWTAFE. I am a member of the Colac Makers' Space and participate in the Colac Otway Arts Trail. Instagram: @heather.barker.1238 |
