‘Tree Guardians’ (Area 10) Tree Guardians is a nod to the grey-headed flying foxes that inhabit the canopies of the Gardens and the importance of protecting and propagating native flora and fauna. Materials/Medium: Recycled materials, found natural materials Joel Wolter is a visual artist working on Gadubanud and Gulidjan Country in Victoria, Australia. Born in Geelong in 1978, Joel holds a BA of Fine Art from the Victorian College of the Arts and has many years of experience as a professional printmaker and as an art educator. Joel is widely exhibited across Australia and his artworks have been selected and represented in many significant exhibitions and art awards, including the Geelong Acquisitive Print Awards, the Rick Amor Print Prize, National Works on Paper Award, Rick Amor Drawing Award, Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, Fremantle Print Awards and Print Traditions – Sources of Australian Printmaking to mention a few. Joel’s work is represented in numerous public collections including the Ballarat Art Gallery, Burnie Regional Art Gallery, Geelong Gallery, the State Library of Victoria, the Parliament of Australia, and the Victorian College of the Arts.
